Scubapro Aladin 100: the simple dive computer for getting started, rental and training

2.4-inch display, full-text menu, Nitrox up to 50%, 80 m and an AA battery you change yourself: what the Scubapro Aladin 100 is, who it is really for and how it compares with the Scubapro A1 and Luna 2.0.

Your first dive computer does not need fifty functions. It needs to be easy to read, tell you straight away what you need to know and not give you maintenance headaches. That is the idea behind the Scubapro Aladin 100.

Scubapro designed it for intensive use in settings such as rental, training and the entry-level market: reliable performance and maximum ease of use. For beginner and recreational divers that means a large display, a menu in plain language with no acronyms and a battery you replace yourself. For dive centres it means a robust computer that is easy to prepare between one customer and the next.

Who the Scubapro Aladin 100 is for

It makes the most sense in three cases:

  • Your first computer. If you have just earned your certification and want a computer that does not put you in difficulty, with clear data and readable alerts.
  • Rental and courses. If you run a dive centre or a school and need an instrument you can reset and hand back dozens of times.
  • A simple second instrument. Scuba and Gauge modes make it a backup as well as a computer for training progression.

Easy to read, easy to understand

The 2.4-inch display has even backlighting and high contrast, for good readability in any conditions. The main screen shows Depth, Dive Time and No-Stop Time (NST) in large numbers, plus a fourth field you choose: temperature, maximum depth, MB level, O₂ percentage, timer and more. Decompression data appears automatically, so you do not have to look for it.

Alerts are also written in large characters, so they can be understood at a glance by people on their first dives or by those renting the equipment. The case has an angled profile, designed to give a good viewing angle while you are in the water.

Two buttons, no acronyms

You navigate with just two buttons, even with gloves. The menu is full-text: no codes to decipher, so less time to learn and less help needed from staff in the shop or at the counter. The main screen can be customized with a quick link to the functions you use most, and the computer switches on by itself in dive mode when it goes into the water.

Algorithm, Nitrox and depth

The calculation is based on the predictive Bühlmann ZH-L16 ADT MB algorithm, with adaptive safety features. You can adjust the microbubble (MB) level and enable PDIS, the profile-dependent intermediate stops.

It supports Nitrox up to 50% O₂ in a single-gas configuration: you set the gas percentage between 21% and 50% and the computer works on that. Fewer choices also means a lower risk of error for people who are just starting out. The maximum operating depth is 80 m / 262 ft, in Scuba and Gauge mode: more than recreational dives and advanced courses require. Remember that, as the manual states, dives at an oxygen partial pressure above 1.6 bar (about 67 m / 220 ft when breathing air) are extremely dangerous.

What it does not have

It is better to say it clearly: the Aladin 100 has no freediving mode, does not handle more than one gas, has no altimeter and does not read tank pressure by radio. It is a choice for simplicity, not an oversight. If you need these functions, see the comparison with the A1 and Luna 2.0 below.

AA battery: over 300 hours and you change it yourself

It runs on a standard AA battery, housed in a sealed compartment and replaceable by the user: no proprietary charging systems and no service visits. The stated battery life exceeds 300 hours in dive mode with the backlight on. A Varta AA is already installed in the box, and it is the type the computer was tested and calibrated with (Varta Alkaline Industrial Pro AA). Other alkaline or lithium AA batteries may work, but the charge indicator and low-battery warnings may be less accurate.

Bluetooth and LogTRAK 2.0

The built-in Bluetooth Low Energy wirelessly transfers your dive logbook to the SCUBAPRO LogTRAK 2.0 app, available for Android and iOS (the software also exists for PC and Mac). From the same app you configure the computer and update the firmware. The range is about 2 m / 6.5 ft.

Built for rental and training

  • The factory reset is code-protected, and there is a manual desaturation reset: you can bring the computer back to its initial state between one user and the next.
  • The case is made of fiber-reinforced engineering polymer and has been thoroughly tested for durability.
  • The AA battery is familiar to all staff, and the protective film on the display is already fitted.
  • The quick-adjust elastic strap is used with one hand and fits wrists and wetsuits of different sizes.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Scubapro Aladin 100 a good first dive computer?

It is designed for exactly this: full-text menu, two buttons, large numbers for depth, dive time and no-stop time, readable alerts. It has no freediving mode and handles a single gas, so it suits recreational diving with air or Nitrox.

How long does the Scubapro Aladin 100 battery last?

Over 300 hours in dive mode with the backlight on, with a single AA battery that you can replace yourself.

Can the Aladin 100 be used with Nitrox?

Yes, up to 50% O₂, in a single-gas configuration.

Does it have a freediving mode?

No: the modes are Scuba and Gauge. For freediving there is the Scubapro A1, or the Luna 2.0.

Do I need a smartphone to use it?

No, the computer works on its own. The smartphone is only needed if you want to download your dives to LogTRAK 2.0, configure the computer or update the firmware.

Is it suitable for rental?

Yes: code-protected factory reset, desaturation reset, an easy-to-replace AA battery and a fiber-reinforced engineering polymer case. The warranty for rental and commercial use is 1 year.
