Sirio Thunder 27 – No-Ground-Plane Pole-Mounted CB Antenna
The Sirio Thunder 27 is a CB antenna designed for fixed installations without a ground plane, ideal for pole mounting in situations where a reference surface isn't available. The compact structure and dedicated electrical design allow for stable, reliable operation in the CB and 10-metre amateur radio band.
Thanks to its loaded ¼-wave configuration with helical winding, the antenna offers omnidirectional radiation with vertical polarisation, ensuring uniform coverage in all directions with no tuning required.
Electrical performance
The Sirio Thunder 27 operates in the 25–29 MHz frequency band, covering both CB use and the 10-metre HAM segment. The wide bandwidth allows for immediate use, maintaining an SWR ≤ 2 across an extended portion of the operating spectrum.
The manageable power reaches 100 W continuous in CW and up to 300 W for short periods, making it suitable for fixed stations with medium-power CB or amateur radio equipment.
Construction and installation
Built using resistant materials such as aluminium, copper, galvanised steel and nylon, ensuring mechanical strength and long-term durability even in outdoor installations. It's designed for pole mounting, and the female UHF connector (SO-239) ensures compatibility with the most common coaxial cables.
