The Midland Arctic is a portable marine VHF radio designed to deliver professional technical performance in a robust and reliable body. The aluminium chassis and IP67 waterproof certification make it suitable for intensive use in the marine environment, providing complete protection against water and adverse weather conditions. All functions are directly accessible from the keypad, including the direct access button to emergency channel 16.
The removable antenna with standard SMA connector allows the use of alternative antennas according to operational requirements. Management of Charlie and Alpha channels and other advanced functions is available via the optional programming software PRG-G15, enabling customisation of up to 57 user-programmable international channels.
Transmission Power and Channel Management
The Midland Arctic transmits with a selectable output power of 5W or 1W, adapting to different communication requirements whether at sea or in harbour. It supports Dual Watch and Triple Watch functions for simultaneous monitoring of multiple channels, with a configurable priority channel. The SCAN function and 10 adjustable Squelch levels ensure clean and continuous reception even in high radio traffic conditions.
Battery Life and Advanced Features
The 1600mAh Li-Ion battery pack ensures long operational autonomy, supported by the automatic battery saver and low battery indicator. The 10-level VOX function enables hands-free communication, while the Roger Beep and keypad beep improve everyday usability. The keypad lock prevents accidental activations during navigation. The 2-pin Motorola accessory socket ensures compatibility with a wide range of headsets and external microphones.
